Not Asking Week

Today marks the first day our church is going through of a week of not asking God for anything...

Both Steve and I looked at each other this morning when we heard that and said, "How are we going to do this?"
I think our pastor showed us how (and deep down in my heart, I already knew this) but its true, so often our prayers are "asking" prayers. We ask for an offer on our house, we ask for health in our house, we ask for healing in our son, there is just so much asking we do. I do think we are pretty thankful too when we pray. We thank Him for our children, for our home, food, health, for Him being in the midst of our lives and so much more.
I think focusing on who God is, is exactly what we need this week. So this weeks verses are:

Sunday, Genesis 1:1 and Psalm 19:1 Focus on the Creator and the beauty and wonder of His creation.
Monday, Psalm 77:11-12,14 Recall God sightings-the times when you have seen evidence of God at work.
Tuesday, Psalm 68:6a and 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 Thank God for family, friends and blessings of those He has given you to love.
Wednesday, Luke 17:11-19 Remember answers to prayer and thank God for them.
Thursday, Lamentations 3:22-23 and Philippians 4:19 Thank God for His faithfulness and provision.
Friday, Gen 9:11, Joshua 1:8-9; Psalm 62:1-2; Jeremiah 29:11; Matt 28:20b; John 14:3,12-14; John 16:7,13; 1 John 1:9; Rev 3:20-21 Thank God for His precious promises.
Saturday, Deuteronomy 10:17; Isaiah 6:3; 1 John 4:8; Hebrews 12:29 Remember the attributes of God and appreciate all that He is. Try listing an attribute of God for every letter of the alphabet.

Wow, what a week we have ahead of us. Lord willing, I pray that I make time to spend with Him to go over these.

Today's verses really show that God is BIG! Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

We serve a Big God. Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. We continue to pray for healing in our sons heart because we know that its a Spiritual battle against the enemy. Our prayers are standing against the enemy. God hears our prayers because This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15.

God is certainly much bigger than the heart in my sons chest. Not only that but He is the one who knit him together perfectly in my womb. Nothing is too big for God.
